America will grind to a stop with oil prices going over $90 a barrel because of Obama's oil policies. The policy has stopped drilling offshore in most areas. Deep water drilling and even shallow water drilling is hit hard with new regulations when all that was needed was for the government to enforce regulations already in existence before the BP disaster (if regulators had been doing their job there should not have been a disaster.) At least 130 billion barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of natural gas are available to the US from offshore drilling according to the Investors Business Daily.
Obama's policy will not allow mining of shale deposits in the Northeast and Northwest that contain hundreds of billions of more oil right in our own backward. Now the high price of oil will not only kill businesses and cause more job losses, but hit the consumer hard with high gasoline prices, already over $3 per gallon in some places (I had to look for gas today that was under $3, and finally settled for a price of $2.96) but also the developed nations around the world, except of course for the Robber-Barron OPEC nations that will get even richer in the future.
Why should we pay these horrendous prices when we already have resources of our own at our disposal? At the same time we should be working very hard to develop green sources of energy as well as nuclear power, not just giving it the Obama lip-service routine. But as long as we sit on our butt and do nothing except impede exploration, drilling, and mining because of some supposed environmental problem, we risk our economy, individual prosperity, our military power, and our status as a world power.
